Ochsner Hospital for Children announced its participation as a Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE study site for the Phase 2/3 global study of the investigational COVID-19 vaccine. Originally introduced in late July 2020 for adult volunteers ages 18-85 and November 2020 for adolescents ages 12-17, the Pfizer Phase 2/3 trial – with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) emergency approval – is now seeking children volunteers ages 5-11, with the goal of enrolling children as young as six months old in the near future.

Baton Rouge General (BRG) announced that it was awarded certification for both its Chest Pain and Primary Stroke Center.

The hospital again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification.

Ochsner Baton Rouge has partnered with JoVi’s Tacos restaurant for a COVID-19 vaccination event on June 5.

Ochsner staff will provide the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine from 6-9 p.m. at the restaurant located at 13214 Coursey Blvd. Each unvaccinated JoVi’s customer who receives the shot during that time gets one free, full-size taco.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is available to anyone at least 18 years old.

Baton Rouge General (BRG) announced that it will resume in-person tours of its Birth Center for expecting parents, starting this month. After more than a year-long pause on tours and in-person classes due to COVID-19 visitor restrictions, the Birth Center (located on BRG’s Bluebonnet campus) is ready to welcome back expecting parents for in-person tours.
