Woman’s Hospital has promoted Cathy Griffiths, DNS, NEA-BC, RNC-OB, to chief quality officer. Griffiths has dedicated her career to improving patient care with more than 40 years in nursing and healthcare administration, including serving as Woman’s vice president of quality since 2014.

In 2022, Mary Bird Perkins will be one of only a few sites in the United States and the only one in Louisiana to offer a breakthrough Adaptive MRI-Guided Radiation Therapy Program. The Cancer Center is acquiring an Elekta Unity system, a state-of-the-art MR-linac, the cornerstone of the Adaptive MRI-Guided Radiation Therapy Program. This will provide oncologists the ability to target tumors previously not treatable with radiation therapy. Currently, there are only six cancer centers in the country offering this technology and level of treatment.

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) opened a monoclonal antibody infusion site this week at Baton Rouge General – Mid City. It will operate seven days a week from 8 a.m.-5:45 p.m., with the capacity to treat 200 patients a day. The site is located in the parking lot at the corner of North Boulevard and Lovers Lane, across the street from the hospital’s Entrance 3. 

A physician referral is required to receive the monoclonal antibody treatment. To be eligible, you must have tested positive for COVID-19, have had symptoms for 10 days or less, and one of the following:

Ochsner Baton Rouge has added three new physicians to the region.

Rachel Bernard, DO, specializes in pediatric gastroenterology at Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove. Bernard earned a medical degree from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
