Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS), through its subsidiary company, Cardiovascular Logistics of Chicago, has entered into a management partnership with Midwest Cardiovascular Institute (MCI) based in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Ill. in the towns of Naperville and Elmhurst.

MCI is owned by 20 cardiologists in Chicagoland who have practiced in the area for more than 30 years. CIS’s role in the partnership is to provide all management oversight, all employees, clinic information systems, human resources support, and business office systems.

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System announced to its organization it will require the Covid-19 vaccine for all team members, employed providers, residents, students in clinical rotations, contract staff, and volunteers. Implementation of the requirement will occur over several months concluding in December of 2021.

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center welcomed Heather Johnson as director of early detection and education, serving as the leader of the organization’s longstanding Prevention on the Go community program. In this role, Johnson will work with a team that provides free mobile prevention, education, and early detection services to communities throughout the region.

As COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise in Louisiana, and following the designation of Louisiana by the White House as a “state of concern” because of its rapid case growth and insufficient vaccination rate, Gov. John Bel Edwards and the Louisiana Department of Health issued updated guidance recommending that all people, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, wear masks indoors when at least six feet of distancing is not physically possible during the fourth surge of COVID-19.

The 52nd graduating class of the North Oaks School of Radiologic Technology celebrated their accomplishments with a commencement ceremony on July 15.

Program Director Heather Koepp shared that the day after graduation, all members of the class of 2021 passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national certification examination. In addition, all have secured jobs.
