Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic (BROC) and Lafayette-based Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists, LLC (LOS), announced their intentions to become the founding divisions of a newly combined orthopedic group practice - Gulf South Orthopedic Partners.. The partnership is unique in that it allows each division to continue to operate in their respective markets under their existing brands of LOS and BROC, while at the same time coordinating their combined resources and expertise to benefit all patients across a broader region.

Woman’s Hospital announced the hiring of Kelly Schwartzenburg Cannon, MD, as director of inpatient perinatal psychiatry and Bianca Glueck as clinical director. They will lead the new perinatal mental health unit at Woman’s Hospital which is scheduled to open September 2024.

Cannon is a board-certified psychiatrist with more than 12 years of experience in the inpatient clinical setting. She specializes in providing psychiatric care for maternity and postpartum patients.

Ten Ochsner Health nurses have been named to Louisiana State Nursing Association’s (LSNA) inaugural “40 under 40” list. This award recognizes future leaders of nursing in Louisiana.

LSNA selected 40 outstanding nurse leaders 40 years of age and under who exemplify dedication to the nursing profession and demonstrate the qualities of a good leader.

Baton Rouge General and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center are offering a monthly breast cancer support group, providing patients an additional resource as they walk through their breast cancer journey. Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women in Louisiana and the U.S., and Black women in the state are more likely to die from the disease.
