Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center announced that medical oncologist Andrew Gahagan, MD, has joined Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s medical staff, serving Baton Rouge and the surrounding area.
Gahagan obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2014. He earned a medical degree at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2018 and gained board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2021.
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center will host its inaugural “Barbershop Bash” event on Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Webb’s Barbershop (401 Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive) in Baton Rouge. This no-cost community screening event will offer educational resources on prevention and early detection as well as screenings for prostate and colorectal cancer. There will also be free food, music, and activities for children.
