Satish Gadi, MD, interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS), is using the Venclose Maven™ Perforator Catheter to treat venous disease. The procedure took place on April 19 at the CIS Baton Rouge clinic at 8401 Picardy Avenue.

Continuing its commitment to addressing the opioid epidemic, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) will open two new Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) in Houma and Bogalusa, bringing the overall number of Louisiana OTPs to 12. The evidence-based behavioral health treatment facilities will increase access to treatment services for 400 to 1,200 individuals per month.
Woman’s Hospital has expanded its use of Medtronic Situate scanning devices to all labor and delivery rooms – the first in the area to utilize this safety measure for all patients delivering at the hospital. Woman’s was also the first in Baton Rouge to use the technology in its operating rooms as an added layer of protection from retained surgical items (RSIs).
Physicians at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) and Baton Rouge General Medical Center (BRG) performed their 100th transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure on April 21 at Baton Rouge General. CIS interventional cardiologists Garland Green, MD, and Shane Prejean, MD, as well as Imtiaz Khan, MD, cardiothoracic surgeon, worked together to perform the procedure.
