Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s popular Live Well community health event is set to return to Ascension Parish next month. Live Well Ascension, a free cancer screening opportunity, will be held on Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Gonzales’ Jambalaya Park, 1015 E Cornerview St. This free community event provides residents with an opportunity to take advantage of four different types of cancer screenings, including breast, prostate, colorectal, and skin cancer. Participants can also access blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose checks.

Acadian has deployed a strike team with 30 ambulances and 62 crew members to support EMS response following Hurricane Helene's landfall across the southeastern United States. The team will be initially stationed in South Carolina to receive further mission deployments.

Fellowship-trained Trauma Surgeon Gonzalo Ausqui, MD, has joined the North Oaks Medical Center Shock Trauma team. The hospital is a level II trauma center serving Region 9 of Louisiana, which is made up of Tangipahoa, Livingston, St. Helena, St. Tammany, and Washington parishes.
Ausqui joins a team of eleven trauma surgeons and three advanced practitioners who work together to ensure the provision of 24/7 in-house, coordinated care for victims suddenly stricken by serious traumatic injuries.

Amber Robins, MD, has joined Baton Rouge General (BRG) and will treat patients at one of BRG’s Mid City clinic locations, Family Health Center.
Board-certified in family medicine, Robins completed a medical degree and residency at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, N.Y.
Robins will also take care of patients as part of BRG’s new community initiative, BRG Care on the Go, which will bring primary and urgent care services to Mid City and North Baton Rouge through a new mobile health unit. The initiative launches at the end of September.
