Cytovale, a medical diagnostics company, announced that its IntelliSep® test received FDA clearance, aiding clinicians in early detection of the No. 1 cause of death in hospitals: sepsis. 

Much of the research and clinical studies for this new technology took place right here in Baton Rouge, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and its Emergency Department. Since 2015, Our Lady of the Lake has partnered with Cytovale on more than half a dozen studies that led to this groundbreaking tool.

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center has named Jodi Conachen as chief operating officer for the organization. She previously served as vice president of marketing and communications and has been a member of the Cancer Center’s senior management team for almost four years.

The Baton Rouge Recreation Commission (BREC) Foundation recently honored Louisiana Healthcare Connections with its 2022 LEAF (Leadership, Excellence, Activism, and Fellowship) Award.

The LEAF Award is presented annually to honor an individual, business, or organization that has had a significant impact on BREC.

Baton Rouge General (BRG) has teamed up with Rouses Markets to offer free health events, providing glucose testing, blood pressure, and body mass index checks at Rouses locations around the Baton Rouge metro area.

The free health checks will take place at the following places and times:

Jan. 21 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; Arlington Place Rouses Market near LSU, 600 Arlington Creek Centre Blvd., Baton Rouge

March 3 from 12 noon-3 p.m.; Juban Crossing Rouses Market, 10130 Crossing Way, Suite 300, Denham Springs

The American Heart Association announced Jamie Burgess, senior vice president at Hancock Whitney, as the community volunteer chair of the 2022-2023 Baton Rouge Go Red for Women movement. Go Red for Women is a worldwide initiative of the American Heart Association designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women locally, nationally, and globally.
