Our Lady of the Lake Health and Ascension Parish Government have entered into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement to provide enhanced access to healthcare services to residents of Ascension Parish. With the agreement, the parish and Our Lady of the Lake will jointly operate the Ascension Parish Health Unit and the Ascension Counseling Center. This partnership will also increase educational outreach and community events that improve physical and mental health and quality of life for Ascension Parish residents.

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center has announced that Sotirios Stathakis, PhD, will serve as the organization’s new Dr. Charles M. Smith chief of physics. Stathakis will oversee the overall management and oversight of the Cancer Center’s physics and dosimetry teams, in support of clinical, research, and educational activities.

Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital and Hogs for the Cause broke ground on a previously announced Family Support Home. The Family Support Home will serve as on-campus housing for families from Louisiana and beyond who have a child receiving ongoing healthcare treatment at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge.

New nutrition standards announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture propose school lunches with less sugar and salt, starting in the 2025-2026 school year.
Limits would impact sugary foods, including sweetened cereals, flavored milks, and yogurt.
The ultimate goal is to restrict added sugars to less than 10% of total calories a week for school meals.

Prairieville Family Hospital is now in-network, effective January 1, 2023, for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana members. The new contract is with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and its subsidiary HMO Louisiana, Inc. The plans included are Blue Cross PPO plans as well as HMO Louisiana, Inc. plans.
