The latest accreditation is the fifth consecutive Three-Year Accreditation CARF International awarded to Capital Area Human Services.
CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process and continuous improvement services that center on enhancing the lives of the people served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF International, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
This accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be given to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has undergone a rigorous peer review process. During an on-site visit, it has demonstrated to a team of surveyors its commitment to offering measurable, accountable programs and services of the highest quality.
CAHS Executive Director Jan Laughinghouse, PhD, described accreditation as a “commitment to the pursuit of excellence in service to our clients.” She said accreditation confirms and further validates CAHS' excellence in meeting the highest standards in the delivery of services to the region. CAHS is a community-based organization serving East and West Baton Rouge, East and West Feliciana, Ascension, Iberville, and Pointe Coupee parishes.
