The fifty-fourth graduating class of North Oaks School of Radiologic Technology celebrated their accomplishments with a commencement ceremony on June 29.

Program Director Heather Koepp proudly shared that the class of 2023 has a 100% job placement rate with four of the nine graduates accepting positions with North Oaks Health System.

“Do you have a best friend?” 

That might not sound like an appropriate question for a doctor’s visit, but it may be a lifesaver. A new Tulane University study finds that loneliness is a bigger risk factor for heart disease in patients with diabetes than diet, exercise, smoking, and depression.

The research was published in European Heart Journal, a publication of the European Society of Cardiology.

The Ochsner Cancer Institute has earned a distinguished three-star rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for its patient care and lung cancer resection (lung lobectomy) outcomes. The three-star rating, which denotes the highest category of quality, places the Ochsner Cancer Institute in the top 2.5% of thoracic surgery programs in the United States and Canada.

More than 1,320 attended the New Cardiovascular Horizons (NCVH) conference at The Roosevelt New Orleans May 30-June 2 for a peripheral vascular disease program to improve cardiovascular care and outcomes in patients across the United States.

The annual conference featured more than 20 live cases from across the world, 180 expert faculty, 525 exhibitors, and more than 300 presentations. Up to 25 continuing education credits were offered.

On June 28, the Capital Area chapter of American Heart Association and Junior League of Baton Rouge presented 50 infant CPR Anytime® kits to Woman’s Hospital. The kits will help families with babies in Woman’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) learn lifesaving infant CPR and infant choking relief skills.
