Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and OneOncology announced the organizations have finalized agreements to become partners, effective Jan. 1, 2022. This partnership will expand access to resources for cancer patients at every Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center location.

All Louisiana children ages five to 11 are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) formal recommendation. Prior to this announcement, the Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty) vaccine was recommended and authorized for people ages 12 and older.

Following CDC’s recommendation, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) reviewed CDC guidance and has alerted all vaccine providers for children in the state that they can begin administering the Pfizer pediatric vaccine immediately.

Peter Fail, MD, interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) in Houma, is using the TriClip™ Transcatheter Tricuspid Valve Repair (TTVr) System to treat tricuspid valve regurgitation, a condition in which the valve between the two right heart chambers does not close properly. A recent procedure took place at Terrebonne General Health System.

Cancer survivors were honored second-annual Celebrate Life Car Parade on the Woman's Hospital campus. This event started last year as a way to safely celebrate amazing women in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
