Baton Rouge General (BRG) will open up applications March 1 for its 2022 Community Enhancement Award (CEA). Applications must be submitted through March 18. BRG will select a project to sponsor with up to $50,000 per year, for up to two years. The project will be selected based on its alignment with BRG’s mission and its ability to transform Baton Rouge in a significant and measurable way.

The Baton Rouge Health-Tech Catalyst, a Baton Rouge Health District project funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship – Build to Scale Program, announced its inaugural Launchpad Innovation Pilot Awards. The goal of the project is to promote and support collaboration between Health District member institutions, while sparking innovation between Baton Rouge Health District anchor institutions, technology and community innovators, and industry leaders.

The Louisiana Department of Health will receive $1.2 million over five years to protect Louisiana workers and communities from extreme heat through a grant from the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control’s (CDC) National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

The funding will be used to collaborate with local climate agencies, research centers, and community organizations to access, analyze, and interpret climate and health data; provide training and education on heat and health risks; and strengthen Louisiana communities’ climate adaptation and resilience.

Baton Rouge General (BRG) is hosting a men’s screening event at its Mid City campus as part of The Healthy Men Project. Launched in November, the campaign encourages men ages 30-50 to be more proactive about their health. The screening event will take place Feb. 19 from 8-10 a.m. The event is free, but registration is required at brgeneral.org/healthymen.
