Take Down Tobacco National Day of Action, the new name for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids’ signature platform Kick Butts Day, is designed to empower youth advocates to stand up and speak out against Big Tobacco. The Take Down Tobacco program is a 365-day-a-year effort that culminates with a Take Down Tobacco National Day of Action.

This year’s Take Down Tobacco National Day of Action will be held April 1.

As part of its ongoing commitment to creating health equity and fighting food insecurity, Louisiana Healthcare Connections has partnered with the St. Helena Farmers Market (SHFM) to expand reach of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Beginning on April 8 in Greensburg, SHFM shoppers who have a Louisiana Purchase EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) card will receive a three-to-one match for up to $15 in purchases, getting a total of $20 worth of fresh foods and produce for spending $5.

Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health is partnering with The Safety Place to provide free car seat safety checks TODAY, April 1, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Livingston.

Located at 5000 O’Donovan Blvd. in Walker, La., the event will have safety professionals on hand to both inspect and properly install car seats. Those interested can show up with their vehicles and car seats any time in the four-hour window or call (225) 372-3991 to schedule an appointment.

The Louisiana Spirit Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) operating under the auspices of the Louisiana Department of Health’s Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) is receiving $9.2 million in additional funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This funding will allow Hurricane Ida survivors access to disaster behavioral health and emotional support resources.
