She completed clinical rotations in pediatrics, women’s health, emergency medicine, internal medicine, cardiology, and endocrinology. Before joining Our Lady of the Lake Ascension Implements IntelliSep Test Our Lady of the Lake Ascension, part of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health Sys- tem (FMOLHS), announced the implementation of the IntelliSep test in its emergency department. This diagnostic tool allows for the early detection and treatment of sepsis. This sepsis detection tool was researched and developed at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. “We are proud to expand this innovative tech- nology to serve more of our patients through- out Southeast Louisiana. At Our Lady of the Lake Ascension, we will be enhancing our healthcare delivery by reducing mortality, recovery time, and medical costs through early sepsis detection,” said Chuck Spicer, president of Our Lady of the Lake Health. The IntelliSep test uses a standard blood sam- ple to analyze white blood cell responses, deliv- ering results in under 10 minutes. In the first year of implementation at Our Lady of the Lake Emer- gency Department there has been a 30% reduc- tion in mortality of septic patients. Bollinger Shipyards President, CEOElected to Ochsner Health Board of Directors Ochsner Health announced that Ben Bordelon, president and CEO of Bollinger Shipyards, LLC, has been elected to serve as a board member for its 46-hospital health system. Bordelon will begin his four-year term effective January 1, 2025. The Ochsner Health Board of Directors oversees the system’s leadership and strategy to achieve the organization’s mission and vision. Bordelon graduated from Louisiana State Uni- versity where he was a member of the LSU Tigers football team. Following a career in the NFL, Bor- delon joined Bollinger Shipyards in 2000 as proj- ect manager. He has held a variety of leadership positions throughout his tenure, including exec- utive vice president of repair and chief operating officer. In 2014, Ben assumed the position of pres- ident and CEO of Bollinger. The Ochsner Health Board of Directors is led by its chair, Andrew Wisdom, and now consists of 15 community leaders with expertise in a variety of business interests including legal services, insur- ance, real estate, banking, wealth management, and energy. The board will include 10 Ochsner senior physician leaders who are elected or appointed by their senior physician peers. Baton Rouge General Welcomes Robotic Surgeon Tuan Tran, MD Tuan Tran, MD, a laparoscopic and robotic sur- geon specializing in general and bariatric surgery, recently joined Baton Rouge General’s Advanced Robotics Institute. Tran treats inguinal hernias, abdominal wall hernias, gastroesophageal reflux disease, gallbladders, and colon diseases. He also performs weight loss surgery at BRG’s Louisiana Center for Bariatrics. Tran completed an undergraduate degree at LSU in Baton Rouge and earned a medical degree at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He then completed a general surgery residency at LSU Health Sciences Center and underwent a rigorous advanced minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery fellowship in Florida at AdventHealth Tampa. While in fellowship, he focused primarily on performing gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and revisional bariatric surgery particularly converting a sleeve gastrectomy to gastric bypass.
