As DLAM director, Stout is responsible for over- seeing the facilities under DLAM’s management and working to maintain LSU’s AAALAC accredi- tation. He also serves as a resource for the univer- sity’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Commit- tee, which oversees and reviews all research and teaching activities involving vertebrate animals. Additionally, he oversees the laboratory animal residency program, which educates and mentors veterinarians seeking accreditation in this spe- cialty of veterinary medicine. In addition, Stout assumes the role of LSU’s attending veterinarian, a role that includes over- seeing the care of Mike VII, LSU’s beloved live tiger mascot. BROCOpens Renovated Clinic in Zachary Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic (BROC) cele- brated the opening of its newly renovated loca- tion in Zachary. This clinic will provide full-time access to orthopedic care, surgical and non-sur- gical. The new location also contains a large ther- apy gym for physical and occupational therapy services. David Rabalais, MD, Adam Whatley, MD, and John Wilkinson, MD, are the physicians serving at this location. While all three provide compre- hensive orthopedic care, Rabalais and Whatley focus on sports medicine, shoulder, and total joint replacement specialties, and Wilkinson special- izes in hand, wrist, and elbow injuries. BROC’s physicians offer surgeries at the Sur- gery Center of Zachary and Lane Regional Med- ical Center and are available to travel to Baton Rouge if needed. Clinic hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Jones Joins North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center Fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon Ste- ven D. Jones Jr., MD, will join North Oaks Ortho- paedic Specialty Center in Hammond effective September 18. New patient consultations and appointments are now being scheduled. Jones is a sports medicine physician and ortho- pedic surgeon that specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the bones, joints, and muscles for athletic and non-athletic adolescents and senior adults. He treats muscu- loskeletal disorders involving the shoulder, knee, elbow, and hip. He has additional expertise in advanced knee and shoulder arthroscopy, as well as complex shoulder reconstruction. Jones comes to North Oaks from Redwood City, California, where he recently finished a fel- lowship in advanced arthroscopy and orthopae- dic sports medicine through Stanford University. He completed residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, having served as chief administrative resident in his final year. Prior to graduating from Tulane University’s School of Medicine in New Orleans, Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine through Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Fury specializes in sports medicine and is currently accepting new patients in the Gonzales clinic, located at 1014 W. St. Clare Blvd. Ste. 1000. Fury received a Bachelor of Science from Louisi- ana State University and played on the LSU Tigers baseball team. He attended medical school at LSU in New Orleans, where he received a doc- torate. After attending LSU, Fury completed an orthopedic residency at the Harvard program in Boston. He then finished a sports medicine fel- lowship at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. “We are honored and privileged to have Dr. Fury join the BROC team.
