Breast SurgeonMichael Hailey, MD, Joins Ochsner Baton Rouge Ochsner Baton Rouge welcomed Michael Hai- ley, MD, who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and diseases of the breast. Continuing to work alongside Hailey is Jarmeca Berry, NP, who has partnered with Hailey for nearly seven years. His practice will now be known as Ochsner Breast Specialty Center – Baton Rouge. The office staff, office phone number, and office loca- tion will not change at 500 Rue de la Vie, Suite 201, in Baton Rouge. In addition, patients will gain new benefits with Ochsner Health. They will soon have service options on the Woman’s Hospital campus, as well as Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge on the O’Neal campus near I-12 and Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove near the Mall of Louisiana south of I-10. “Dr. Hailey is one of the most respected breast surgeons in the capital area, and we’re honored that he is joining our group practice. Hailey earned a medical degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed a residency in general surgery at Car- raway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. BrentW. Allain Jr., MD, is OLOL Regional Medical Center Chief of Staff Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center has announced the election of Brent W. Allain Jr., MD, FASMBS, as its chief of staff for 2023. “I am confident that Dr. Allain will be a great leader for our medical staff throughout this year,” said Catherine O’Neal, MD, chief medical officer at Our Lady of the Lake. “Dr. Allain has over 15 years of experience at Our Lady of the Lake and brings an incredible amount of knowledge to the Chief of Staff’s role.” Allain is a board-certified general surgeon with the Surgeons Group of Baton Rouge at Our Lady of the Lake. Allain also specializes in bariatric sur- gery and is a founding physician of the Metamor Institute, a bariatric multidisciplinary clinic run in partnership between Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Pennington Biomedi- cal Research Center, the Office of the Governor of Louisiana, Louisiana Economic Development, LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine, and Pen- nington Biomedical Research Foundation. He earned a medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he also completed an internship and residency in general surgery. He then completed a fellowship in 2009 in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Allain is also a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. As chief of staff, Allain will serve on the Our Lady of the Lake board of directors while also leading the medical executive committee. The commit- tee uses input from more than 1,800 members of the medical staff to make key leadership decisions related to medical staff policies, procedures, and rules, with an emphasis on clinical care and qual- ity improvement initiatives. Woman’s Hospital Recognized by Newsweek as ‘World’s Best Hospital’ for Gynecology, Maternity Care Woman’s has been named a “World’s Best Hos- pital” by Newsweek for the third consecutive year. Woman’s is one of only six specialty hospitals in the nation to receive this award.
