Planning is already underway between the two healthcare systems, and implementation of the EPIC platform at LRMC is expected to begin in early 2024. Baton Rouge General Names NewChief Medical Officer Baton Rouge General (BRG) has named Wil- liam “Keith” Kellum, MD, its chief medical officer. Board-certified in internal medicine, Kellum will oversee medical services and clinical strategy at the Bluebonnet and Ascension campuses. While working at BRG as a hospitalist since 2013, Everett Bonner, MD, Recognized for National Cancer Award Everett J. Bonner, Jr., MD, FACS, FSSO, has been chosen as one of 10 physicians in the nation to receive the 2022 Commission on Cancer (CoC) Cancer Liaison Physician Outstanding Perfor- mance Award. The award recognizes outstanding performance by a physician in their role as quality leader of their cancer program. The CoC’s Cancer Liaison Program is a volun- teer network that manages clinically related can- cer activities in local institutions and commu- nities, and the Cancer Liaison Physician (CLP) serves as an integral member of a program’s can- cer committee. Bonner serves as medical director of Baton Rouge General’s Breast Surgery Program and also heads the High-Risk Breast Clinic at BRG’s Mid City campus, providing specialized care to women at risk for developing breast disease and who are underinsured or uninsured. Bonner holds a fellowship in surgical breast oncology from Memorial Sloan Kettering Can- cer Center in New York. He graduated from LSU School of Medicine and completed a surgery res- idency at Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, Georgia. Woman’sWelcomes RenadaW. Deschamp as VP of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Woman’s Hospital welcomed Renada W. Des- champ, MPA, MCCT, as vice president of diver- sity, equity, and inclusion and chief diversity officer. As chief diversity officer, Deschamp will lead DE&I initiatives internally by working with lead- ership to create a culture of belonging within the organization, which encompasses enhancing equi- table hiring practices and employee and provider training and education, and externally by ensur- ing all policies and practices foster inclusion and patients receive culturally competent healthcare and better outcomes. She will work closely with Katrice Albert, MD, who has served as the hos- pital’s DE&I consultant since 2020, as she transi- tions into her role to continue the work to advance belonging across the organization. Deschamp attended Southern University where she earned an undergraduate degree in political science and a Master of Public Administration. She is active in the community and serves on a num- ber of different boards of directors committed to DE&I in Baton Rouge including the Greater Baton Rouge Society for Human Resource Management as diversity director, YWCA Greater Baton Rouge, and ATD Baton Rouge. BRGNames Jennifer Manale Chief Nursing Officer Baton Rouge General announced it has named Jennifer Manale, RN, BSN, CNOR, as its chief nursing officer, overseeing all nursing operations at the Bluebonnet and Ascension campuses, the BRG School of Nursing, and perioperative ser- vices. Manale will work closely with Angie Cloua- tre, CNO, at BRG’s Mid City campus. Since joining the organization in 1989 as a nurse in the operating room, Manale has served in mul- tiple patient care and healthcare management positions, most recently as interim CNO and direc- tor of perioperative services. As CNO, she works closely with the hospital’s nursing directors, pro- viding the strategic vision to manage clinical ser- vices and all areas of patient care. She will also work closely with other CNOs in the region through the Louisiana Independent Hospital Network Coalition, a statewide net- work of independent healthcare providers shar- ing resources to improve patient care and reduce costs.
