Additionally, he served as the cath lab director and practice administrator at the CIS Luling practice, having played a large role in the opening of CIS cathe- terization labs in Luling and Lafayette. Hebert completed a master’s degree in health- care administration from Louisiana State Univer- sity in Shreveport. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and is certified as a radiologic technol- ogist. He previously worked as a sales represen- tative for various medical device companies, a field in which he earned numerous awards and recognitions for his success and excellence. He also worked primarily as an interventional cardi- ology manager. In addition, Hebert has also received many accolades from CIS, including the Leader- ship Award, the All-Star Award, and the Mary Domangue Award, the highest honor that CIS bestows to a team leader that most exempli- fies the high standards of patient care, compas- sion and dedication established by CIS’s first employee. LAHealthcare Connections Grants Help with Care Accessibility Louisiana Healthcare Connections has granted 10 providers across the state with funding for making their facilities more accessible to patients with disabilities. In collaboration with the National Council on Independent Living’s (NCIL) Provider Accessibility Initiative and through their Barrier Removal Fund, Louisiana Healthcare Connections will increase the number of practitioner locations that meet federal and state disability access standards. Selected by a rigorous application process, recip- ients receive funding for projects that are dedi- cated to making access to their facilities easier. Eligible projects include the purchase of adap- tive equipment, including accessible examina- tion tables and chairs, the production of accessi- ble formats of printed materials, and the purchase of equipment that reduces auditory or visual distractions for members with autism or other developmental disabilities. “By helping providers upgrade their facilities to ensure they are physically and programmatically accessible for our members, we are also help- ing providers support the dignity and indepen- dence of their patients,” noted Stewart Gordon, MD, chief medical officer for Louisiana Health- care Connections. OchsnerWelcomes Three NewProviders Ochsner Baton Rouge welcomes three new pro- viders to the region. Samita Das, MD, specializes in pain manage- ment and back and spine care at Ochsner Medi- cal Complex – The Grove, Ochsner Health Center – O’Neal and Ochsner Health Center – Prai- rieville. After studying at Johns Hopkins Univer- sity in Baltimore, Das earned a medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. She completed a residency in anesthe- siology at Ochsner Medical Center and an inter- ventional pain fellowship at Case Western/Uni- versity Hospital System in Cleveland. She also earned an MBA and a master’s degree in phar- macology from Tulane. Courtney Gunn, PhD, specializes in psycho- logical assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and adults, including psychoeduca- tional evaluations. She sees patients on the third floor of Ochsner Cancer Center – Baton Rouge. After earning degrees from Xavier University in New Orleans and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, she earned a doctorate in psy- chology from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Gunn completed an internship in clinical psy- chology at San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health in California, along with post- doctoral training at Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson. Duncan Hanby, MD, is an ear, nose and throat specialist (otolaryngologist), who sees patients at Ochsner Health Center – O’Neal and at Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove. He earned a med- ical degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock. Hanby also completed a research rotation at M.D. Anderson Cancer Cen- ter in Houston, as well as an internship and resi- dency at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans.
