Woman’s Named One of World’s Best Hospitals by Newsweek Woman’s has been recognized on Newsweek ’s list of World’s Best Hospitals 2021, one of only 16 specialty hospitals in the United States to earn this distinction. The recognition is for oncology care provided at Woman’s Hospital and the Breast & GYN Cancer Pavilion, a partnership with Mary Bird Perkins - Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center. The Pavilion is the only facility of its kind that enables women to receive state-of-the-art care close to home from three trusted organizations working collaboratively. The only other U.S. spe- cialty hospitals recognized for cancer care were MD Anderson and Memorial Sloan Kettering Can- cer Center. Ochsner Baton RougeWelcomes Pediatric Neurology Team As Ochsner Medical Complex — The Grove readies for its new pediatric super-clinic, more medical specialists continue to join the Ochsner Baton Rouge team. Pediatric neurologist Lalania Schexnayder, MD, PhD, and pediatric nurse prac- titioner Emily Jewell have started seeing pediat- ric neurology patients at The Grove. A Baton Rouge native, Schexnayder is board- certified in neurology with special qualification in child neurology. After completing undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University, she earned a medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 2001. She completed a PhD in neu- roscience, pediatric and adult neurology residen- cies, and a child neurology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine as well. Emily Jewell completed undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Cen- ter School of Nursing in New Orleans in 2010. She earned a master’s degree from the University of South Alabama College of Nursing in 2014. She has worked with Schexnayder for six years. “We’re proud to welcome two highly trained professionals who specialize in pediatric care,” said Aldo Russo, MD, regional medical director, Ochsner Baton Rouge. “In joining our team, they – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center, we are able to offer women with cancer an individual- ized experience unlike any other in the country.” The Pavilion has delivered more than 55,000 ser- vices since it opened in 2018 — including early detection screenings, surgeries, treatments, sur- vivorship services, and other programs to women across Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas. Our Lady of the Lake President ScottWester Receives National Award Our Lady of the Lake President Scott Wester received the American College of Healthcare Executives Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award. The award was bestowed on Wester by Diane Yeates, FACHE, ACHE’s Regent for Louisiana and chief operating officer at Terre- bonne Medical Center in Houma, Louisiana. The Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award recognizes ACHE members who are experienced in the field and have made significant contribu- tions to the advancement of healthcare manage- ment excellence and the achievement of ACHE’s goals. Members are evaluated on leadership ability; innovative and creative management; executive capability in developing their own organization and promoting its growth and stature in the com- munity; contributions to the development of oth- ers in the healthcare profession; leadership in local, state or provincial hospital and health asso- ciation activities; participation in civic/community activities and projects; participation in ACHE activ- ities; and interest in assisting ACHE in achieving its objectives. Wester has served as president and CEO of Our Lady of the Lake since 2008. Prior to this role, he served as president and CEO of St. Francis Med- ical Center in Monroe, La. He has been part of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System since 1993 when he began his healthcare career as an administrative fellow. He is a fellow with the American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE) and past chair of the ACHE CEO Council. He currently serves as Louisiana’s Delegate for the Region 7 Policy Board of the American Hospital Association (AHA) and is a member of the AHA Higher Logic Com- mittee.
