46 JUL / AUG 2021  I  HEALTHCARE JOURNAL OF BATON ROUGE   Hospital Rounds Woman’s Hospital Opens Gynecologic Oncology Clinic in Hammond Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge has expanded its outreach services for gynecologic cancer with the addition of a satellite clinic in Hammond located in the Pontchartrain Cancer Center. “It’s our goal to provide specialized gynecologic cancer care for women in a place that is conve- nient to them. Woman’s Hospital has a wealth of experience in treating women’s specific cancers,” said Anthony Evans, MD, PhD, medical director of gynecologic oncology at Woman’s Hospital. Woman’s also provides GYN oncology specialty services in Acadiana with a clinic in Lafayette. Evans and gynecologic oncologist Laurel King, MD, are now seeing patients at the Hammond location. They specialize in using evidence-based modern techniques for treating cancers of the female reproductive system. They are two of just a dozen GYN oncologists currently practicing in Louisiana. Ochsner Health Facilities Recognized with an ‘A’ by Leapfrog Thirteen Ochsner Health facilities, including five partner facilities, earned an “A” Spring 2021 Hos- pital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national distinction recognizing the health sys- tem’s achievements protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to healthcare quality and safety. The safety grade is a letter assigned to all general hospitals across the coun- try and updated every six months, assessing how well hospitals prevent medical errors and other harms to patients. It is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospitals’ preven- tion of medical errors and other harms to patients. “An ‘A’ safety grade is an elite designation that the communities you serve should feel good about,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “The past year has been extraordinarily difficult for hospitals, but Ochsner hospitals and partner facilities show it is possible to keep a laser focus on patients and their safety, no matter what it takes.” Neurology Expert Ryan Uitti, MD, Joins Baton Rouge General Board of Trustees Ryan Uitti, MD, an expert on Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders at Mayo Clinic and medical director of the Mayo Clinic Care Net- work’s Southeast Region, has been named to the board of trustees at Baton Rouge General (BRG). “As a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, we have gotten to know Dr. Uitti over the past year, and his perspective and experience are sec- ond to none,” said Phyllis McLaurin, who serves as the chair of the BRG Board of Trustees. “As we continue to use Mayo Clinic’s resources on behalf of our patients, we will also have Dr. Uitti’s valuable input as we move forward as a hospital system.” In January 2020, BRG announced its member- ship in the Mayo Clinic Care Network. Uitti is also a professor and consultant in the Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Jack- sonville, Florida, where he has served since 1994. Woman’s Hospital Earns Another 4-Star Rating by CMS In recognition for providing quality care and positive outcomes for patients, Woman’s Hos- pital has been awarded four stars by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the second straight year. CMS star ratings are designed to provide con- sumers with a simple overall rating to help them choose where to receive their care. Scores include a summary of seven different areas, including effectiveness of care, patient experience and time- liness of care. “We are always proud when our team receives any honors or awards, but it’s especially gratifying to be recognized for the quality of care we pro- vide that improves the lives of our patients,” said Barbara Griffith, MD, president and CEO of Wom- an’s Hospital. “Ensuring positive outcomes for our patients is our top priority, and this rating shows that we deliver on that promise.” Woman’s also has received the Guardian of Excellence Award from Press Ganey for being a national leader in patient experience for six years in a row. These positive experiences for patients continue to impact the long-term health of those receiving care at Woman’s. CMS’s Hospital Compare has information about the quality of care at more than 4,000 Medicare- certified hospitals, ensuring that consumers have the most useful, relevant information needed to make vital healthcare decisions. Woman’s Hospital Announces CliffMoore, MD, as New Chief Medical Officer Maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) physician, R. Clifton “Cliff” Moore, MD, has moved into the role of chief medical officer at Woman’s Hospital. An expert in fetal therapy and surgery, Moore will continue to practice in the Woman’s MFM Clinic part-time, while shifting half of his time to CMO duties. As CMO, Moore will be responsible for lead- ing clinical quality initiatives, while also working closely with medical staff to ensure that providers have the tools and resources they need. Moore joined Woman’s as an MFM physician in 2016. He is experienced in caring for babies with complex cases, such as spina bifida, twin-to- twin transfusion syndrome, and congenital heart disease, among others. He was instrumental in Woman’s becoming the first hospital in Louisiana to join the North American Fetal Therapy Net- work (NAFTNet) in 2019, which has allowed the hospital to better collaborate with other leaders
