The Ascension hos- pital offers 3D mammograms, which can detect potential cancers earlier and with less radiation exposure. “We know that life is busy, and weekdays don’t always work for every woman,” said Candace Moore, MD, an OB/GYN at Baton Rouge Gen- eral. “Many women have put off important screen- ings like mammograms in the past year because of COVID-19 and a fear of coming to the hos- pital, and we want to help them easily get back on track.” BRG offers mammography at four locations – Ascension, Bluebonnet, Mid City, and O’Neal Lane. Annual mammograms are recommended for women 40 and older, and for younger women who have a known increased risk of breast cancer. The Ascension hospital is located at 14105 Hwy. 73 in Prairieville. Breast &GYNCancer Pavilion Adds Bell onWheels, Celebrates Third Anniversary With visitors and family members unable to enter the Breast & GYN Cancer Pavilion due to COVID-19 restrictions, patients have been unable to have their full support teams with them as they “ring the bell” in celebration of their final chemo- therapy and/or radiation treatments. Understand- ing this is such an important moment in a woman’s cancer journey, the Pavilion team has created Bell on Wheels that cancer patients can roll outside the facility and into the parking lot to share the moment with their friends and family. Pearline Stevens was one of the first patients to ring the new bell on wheels after her final radiation treatment. “This has been hard on me, but the Pavilion staff made it easier and I am so thankful for everything they did for me,” she said. “This addition comes at the perfect time as we are celebrating the Pavilion’s third anniversary this week,” said Cynthia Rabalais, executive director of the Breast & GYN Cancer Pavilion, a partnership between Woman’s Hospital and Mary Bird Perkins- Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center. “We are con- tinuously looking for ways to improve the care and experience for our patients, and I know it means a lot that we’ve found a way to help them celebrate important milestones in their journey.” Woman’s Hospital was recently named one of the World’s Best Hospitals by Newsweek in rec- ognition of oncology care provided at Woman’s Hospital and the Breast & GYN Cancer Pavilion, a partnership with Mary Bird Perkins-Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center. Pearline Stevens was one of the first patients to ring the new bell on wheels after her final radiation treatment at the Breast & GYN Cancer Pavilion.
