Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group Clinic Opens in Capital Heights Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group opened a new clinic in Baton Rouge’s Capital Heights neighborhood. The clinic, led by Manish Mishra, DO, will offer primary care services and the diag- nosis, treatment, and care of simple to complex illnesses in adults including musculoskeletal care for aches and pains. “This new clinic provides access to primary care in a patient-centered environment for those liv- ing in and around Baton Rouge’s Mid City,” said LaDonna Green, chief operating officer at Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group.“ Mishra is a welcoming presence for patients seeking com- prehensive services paired with compassionate care that you can expect with any one of our pro- viders, but now, closer to home in Mid City.” Mishra received a doctor of osteopathic medi- cine from Touro University Nevada in Henderson, Nev. He completed a residency in internal medi- cine at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, Miss. He is a member of the American College of Physi- cians, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Informatics Association, and the American Osteopathic Association of Medi- cal Informatics. Mishra has a particular interest in managing chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Additionally, for muscu- loskeletal care, he has further training in OMT, a hands-on tool used to help diagnose, treat, and prevent injury and illness. Mishra is accepting patients at Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group Capital Heights located at 4550 Government Street in Baton Rouge. CIS Unveils Baton Rouge Clinic Renovation, Expansion Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) has completed a renovation and expansion of its Baton Rouge clinic at 8401 Picardy Avenue. The clinic expansion features six ultrasound rooms, a cardiac PET scanner, expanded stress lab, 24 total exam rooms, a 3,000+ square foot lobby, and a covered drive-through entrance. CIS began in 1983 in Houma, Louisiana as a one-man practice under Craig Walker, MD. The Baton Rouge location opened in January of 2011 and moved to its current location in 2013. CIS has grown to 20 locations throughout Louisiana and Mississippi and more than 60 physicians. CIS offers cardiovascular care for the heart as well as the entire body, including diagnosis and treat- ment of coronary, carotid, valve, peripheral and venous disease as well as heart arrhythmias. “Our ultimate goal is to create an efficient and comfortable environment for our patients,” explained Garland Green, MD, CIS interventional cardiologist. “The additions to our clinic have helped us to accomplish that goal as we con- tinue to deliver world-class cardiovascular care to the Capital Region.” Local Organizations Receive Grants for Special Needs Learning, COVID-19 Relief Louisiana Healthcare Connections announced that five community-based organizations have been awarded funding through the health plan’s COVID-19 Recovery Grants Program. The COVID-19 Recovery Grants Program awards grants of up to $5,000 each to assist eli- gible organizations in implementing innovative solutions to address the social service and health- care needs of those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizations selected for funding awards include: • Beloved NOLA, in New Orleans, for the Labyrinth Café and Gathering Space; • Meaningful Autistic Resources for Kids, in Sorrento, for M.A.R.K.’s Special Needs Online Learning Program; • Pre-K – 12 and Beyond, in Tallulah, for Social and Emotional Learning for All; • The Greater St. Luke Baptist Church, in Baton Rouge, for its Congregational Care ‘Hope for the Holidays’ program; • The Life Changers of Northeast Louisiana, in Monroe, for its COVID-19 Emergency Relief Center. The COVID-19 Recovery Grants Program con- tinues to accept funding proposals from non- profit, Louisiana-based organizations that serve the Medicaid population. Grant proposals are reviewed weekly. Proposals may be approved, declined, or held for consideration for later fund- ing. Organizations with approved proposals will receive grant funds within 30 days. Our Lady of the Lake Physician GroupWelcomes Thoracic Surgeon Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group has expanded its network of providers to include Nicholas LeBlanc, MD, a thoracic surgeon, focus- ing on the chest organs, including the lungs, esophagus, trachea, and thymus. LeBlanc will also work closely with oncologists and other cancer specialists at Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center.
