HOSPITAL HEALTH FORCE 16 JAN / FEB 2021 I  HEALTHCARE JOURNAL OF BATON ROUGE   work with the dedicated and compassionate staff at Woman’s who carry on this wonder- ful legacy of caring for others. Plus, they are the nicest, friendliest people you can hope to work with. Editor From an HR perspective, what do you see on the horizon for your organization and the industry at large? MANINT We are growing! Having seen so many iterations of our organization in the last 27 years, and to be here when the Mid City emergency department reopened, the opening of our newAscension campus with its innovative approach to patient care, and in a few weeks another surgical specialty practice at our center of health, the Blue- bonnet. Our organization is thriving! It’s a joy and a blessing to be part of this com- munity, and it gives me purpose each day. Our industry has to do what BRG has done with ourAscension campus – be innovative, embrace technology and listen to employees and patients on how they want their health- care delivered. They always know the best way forward. SCHAFFER Our ministry will continue the mission work started by our sisters more than 100 years ago. We will continue to dominate as a ministry in serving our com- munity and those most in need. Our com- munity will know they can count on us to care for those most in need. The HR indus- try is evolving to be more than a support department. We are a strategic business partner focused on providing workforce solutions. This evolution is pivotal in order for us to meet the demands of the health- care industry. The work ahead will require innovation in the way we build, attract and retain our workforce of the future. SEALS We’re seeing great strides and investments in diversity and inclusion pro- grams. We hired a regional director of diver- sity & inclusion in November and are in the process of forming a local diversity coun- cil. We’ve also grown resource and inclu- sion groups for team members including LGBTQ+, African Americans and veterans. I am proud to say that we now have eight employee resource groups at Ochsner. I see continued emphasis on build- ing a workforce that reflects the diversity of the people and communities we serve. I also think we’ll continue to see health systems partner with schools, universi- ties and organizations to train unemployed and underemployed community members. This is a win-win as it helps build a trained pipeline of healthcare workers and creates new and better job opportunities for our neighbors. MOSBROKER I think we will continue to experience a shortage in healthcare profes- sionals. The utilization and partnership with talent agencies will continue to increase. Also, along the same lines, I believe out- sourcing of certain human resource func- tions will continue to gain momentum. By outsourcing and utilizing strategically aligned technology, it allows my team and me to focus on critical company-specific projects that provide the most value to our hospital. HALPHEN Woman’s Hospital has earned its wonderful reputation in the community through 50 plus years of providing excellent care to mothers and infants, becoming the preeminent provider of women’s healthcare in the state and region. We will build on that foundation by strategically broadening and expanding our services to be the provider of choice for all women in the communi- ties we serve. n
