HOSPITAL HEALTH FORCE 10 JAN / FEB 2021 I  HEALTHCARE JOURNAL OF BATON ROUGE   BATON ROUGE’S HOSPITAL HEALTH FORCE — AN HR ROUNDTABLE It might be the understatement of the decade, but many firsts in our lifetimes have happened because of COVID-19. As the weight of this pandemic hits in waves, no part of society has been appreciated more than you, the healthcare workforce. We thought we would check in on the status of the Baton Rouge hospital force by interviewing the human resource leads for facilities facing the brunt of the waves’ impacts. ANNE SEGURA MANINT, SPHR, SHRM-SCP Senior Director of Human Resources, General Health System/Baton Rouge General Anne Segura Manint has over 27 years’ experience in human resources employment and labor law. In her current capacity at GHS/ BRGMC, she has operational responsibility for the employee life-cycle for all 3,500 employees. This includes talent acquisition, employee relations, total rewards, payroll and employee health and wellness as well as labor productivity. In addition, Manint is responsible for the volunteer services, pastoral care and arts-in-medicine departments. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and a master’s degree in library and information science from Louisiana State University. She earned a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification in 2011 and is certified as both a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Society of Human Resources Management – Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). She serves on the Louisiana Workforce Development Board for Area 21 as well as the Volunteers in Public Schools board of directors and is a member of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber Leadership Class of 2019. TINA SCHAFFER, MED, SHRM-SCP Regional Vice President of Human Resources, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System LaTina (Tina) Schaffer is an experienced executive known for creating and transforming organizational people strategy to quantifiable business results. Schaffer has more than 20 years of leadership in all functions of human resources. She is a Senior Certified Professional and an active member of the National Society of HR Management (SHRM) and is also active in the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration and National Association of Health Service Executives. Schaffer is also an alumna of Leadership Baton Rouge and Business Report Executive Leadership Academy. AMANDA SEALS, PHR Assistant Vice President – HR Business Partner, Ochsner Health Qualenta Forrest provides strategic leadership over recruitment, talent management, employee engagement, orientation, employee relations, employee health, employee assistance, regulatory compliance and compensation for the CHI St. Vincent health system. Forrest previously served as the primary human resources liaison on national CHI projects for CHI St. Luke’s Health System in Texas to improve operational efficiencies within local, divisional and national functions. A Jacksonville native, Forrest earned her juris doctor from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and criminal justice with a minor in political science from the University of Arkansas. LARA MOSBROKER, PHR, SHRM-CP Director of Human Resources, Risk and Quality, Surgical Speciality Center of Baton Rouge Lara Mosbroker has served as the director of human resources, risk and quality for Surgical Specialty Center of Baton Rouge since 2015. Most of her healthcare human resources experience has been serving SSCBR hospital and team. Although not an authentic Cajun, Mosbroker has had a genuine love and appreciation for Louisiana people and culture since growing up near the Lafayette area, and she relocated to Baton Rouge in 2006. ED HALPHEN, MBA Vice President, Human Resources, Woman’s Hospital Ed Halphen, who joined Woman’s in April 2020 as interim vice president of human resources, is a global business leader with over 25 years of HR experience. He has successfully led initiatives to build new divisions, create and execute performance management programs, vet and integrate acquisition targets, avoid unionization and establish strategic workforce plans. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from LSU and an MBA from Vanderbilt University. He began his career with SunTrust Corporation and later held HR leadership positions with AmerisouceBergen, Flowserve Corporation, ENSCO International, Petroleum Helicopters, Deposit Guaranty Corporation (now part of Regions Bank) and McIlhenny Company.
