While initial licensure for new graduate nurses and reinstatement licens- es are issued for one year, all renewal li- censes for both RNs and APRNs are issued for two (2) years. Your renewal is based on the expiration date of your license, not alphabetically (that is, by the first letter of your last name). Nursing licenses are renewed online through the Louisiana Nurse Portal. The portal works best on a Windows desktop PC or laptop using Chrome or Internet Explorer 11 or higher. Access to the por- tal is available on LSBN’s homepage at The renewal season for the 2021-2022 biennial license for RNs and APRNs begins October 1, 2020, and continues through December 31, 2020, with the supplemental month of January allowed for late renewal. Late renewal includes a late fee of $50/ license but does not include discipline for practicing without a license. LICENSURE RENEWAL 2021
