Radiology Associates Hires L. Katherine Harris, MD Radiology Associates announced the hiring of L. Katherine Harris, MD. She is a dual fellowship- trained radiologist in breast imaging and pediat- ric radiology. “We are proud to announce that Dr. Katherine Harris has joined our talented team of subspecialty radiologists,” says Scott B. Schuber, MD, Radiology Associates’ managing partner. “Katherine is fellowship-trained in both Breast and Pediatric Imaging, and will further optimize the care of these unique patients.” Harris graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology with minors in chemis- try and French from Newcomb College of Tulane University in New Orleans, La. She earned a Mas- ter of Science in Experimental and Molecular Pathology from the University of Southern Cal- ifornia in Los Angeles, Calif. She earned a Doc- tor of Medicine from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, La. Harris com- pleted an internal medicine internship at the Lou- isiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, La. She completed a diagnostic radi- ology residency at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. Harris completed a fellowship in pediatric radi- ology at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, Omaha, Neb. and a fellowship in breast imaging at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Conn. She is a member of American College of Radi- ology, American Society of Emergency Radiol- ogy, Radiological Society of North America, Soci- ety of Breast Imaging, and Society of Pediatric Radiology. “The ability to see pathology before it becomes clinically apparent improves patients’ outcomes. With advancement in imaging such as fetal MRI and digital breast tomosynthesis, radiologists are able to detect pathology and therefore help improve clinical outcomes better than we ever have before,” said Harris. “As a dual fellowship- trained breast and pediatric radiologist, I sub- specialize in the imaging of women, infants, and children. From performing a breast biopsy of a patient with a new breast lump to reading the chest x-ray of a premature infant, providing the imaging diagnosis to ultimately improve out- comes is very rewarding.” Our Lady of the Lake Physician GroupWelcomes Family Medicine Providers Two family medicine providers join Our Lady of the Physician Group to serve residents of the Baton Rouge region. Tamara Marryshow, MD, is now seeing patients at Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group Perkins located in Baton Rouge and Paulette Grey Riveria, MD, MPH, MBA, joined Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group Westside located in Port Allen, serving patients in West Baton Rouge. As a family medicine physician, Marryshow treats a wide variety of health conditions for the entire family from birth to old age. She received a medical degree from Florida State University School of Medicine in Tallahassee, and com- pleted a family medicine residency at Brown University in Providence, R.I., where she gradu- ated as education chief. Marryshow is a mem- ber of the American Academy of Family Physi- cians, the American Medical Association, and the American Board of Family Medicine. Marryshow joins Gerald Barber, MD, Myles Jaynes, DO, and Yushen Lee, MD, at Our Lady of the Lake Physi- cian Group Perkins. Riveria earned a medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Balti- more and later completed a master’s in public health from Harvard University. She completed a family medicine residency while also obtaining a master of business administration from the Uni- versity of Illinois in Chicago. She is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Rive- ria joins Michael Green, MD, in serving patients in West Baton Rouge parish. Louisiana Department of Health Announces InterimAssistant Secretary of Public Health The Louisiana Department of Health announced Joseph Kanter, MD, is the interim assistant secre- tary of the Office of Public Health. Kanter currently serves as the assistant state health officer and region one medical director of the Department’s Office of Public Health. In these roles, Kanter has served as principal deputy to the state health officer and lead public health offi- cial for the Greater New Orleans area for the last two years, coordinating regional clinical services, emergency preparedness, infectious disease con- trol, and strategic health initiatives. In his former role as the director of the New Orleans Department of Health, Kanter led the city’s comprehensive opioid mitigation strat- egy which included issuing a first-in-the-state standing order for naloxone, equipping the New Orleans Police Department with the rever- sal medication, increasing availability of medica- tion-assisted treatment, promoting harm reduc- tion services, and initiating a city-wide effort to Paulette Grey Riveria, MD, MPH, MBA Tamara Marryshow, MD
