Woman’s Hospital Awarded for Excellence in Patient Experience byPress Ganey for Fifth Straight Year For the fifth consecutive year, Woman’s Hos- pital has been named a Guardian of Excellence Award® winner by Press Ganey for its outstanding inpatient experience, ranking the hospital in the top five percent in the U.S. Woman’s is the only hospital in Baton Rouge with more than 25 beds to earn this honor and one of only 15 in Louisiana. “Everything we do at Woman’s is focused on ensuring our patients receive the best medical care possible. What makes us unique is that we go that extra mile so our patients have an excep- tional experience as well,” said Barbara Griffith, MD, president and CEO of Woman’s Hospi- tal. “We focus on asking, listening, and respond- ing to patients’ needs with individualized care. This level of attention makes a difference.” This is also the first year Woman’s has received the Guardian of Excellence Award® for outpa- tient satisfaction scores. “We are excited about this additional recognition because we’ve con- tinued to grow and enhance our outpatient ser- vices,” Griffith added. “Driving high outpatient satisfaction can be challenging as today’s patients are complex and increasingly unique, with differ- ent needs and preferences. This award reinforces that we are successful in that balancing act for the majority of our patients.” Wendy Singleton, Woman’s director of nursing administration, informatics and patient experi- ence, is shown accepting the Guardian of Excel- lence Award® from Press Ganey Executive Chairman Patrick Ryan at Press Ganey’s annual conference in Orlando, Fla. Woman’s continually strives to understand what patients want and implement programs to meet those needs. A few initiatives launched in recent years to improve patient experience include: • Launching the pregnancy nurse navigator pro- gram to support expectant mothers • Offering virtual breastfeeding consultations • Decreasing wait times in the Assessment Cen- ter through workflow improvements • Improving care coordination for high-risk pregnancies • Installing a sound management system to decrease environmental noise • Expanding valet parking services Additionally, Woman’s has implemented “We C.A.R.E.” service standards that set expecta- tions around what matters most to patients and families. These standards recognize that every encounter is an opportunity to exceed expecta- tions, and all Woman’s employees are trained and evaluated on these measures. Press Ganey, a leading provider of patient expe- rience measurement and performance analytics for healthcare organizations, gives this award annually to the top organizations who have achieved the 95th percentile or higher for any of a set of designated survey measures, including likelihood to recommend, overall rating, and/or teamwork. Woman’s exceeds state and national averages in all measurement categories. Woman’s Hospital has received multiple presti- gious awards in 2019. The organization was also named the Best Place to Work in Healthcare for large employers by Modern Healthcare and as a Best Place to Work in Baton Rouge by the Busi- ness Report.  Our Lady of the Lake, The NeuroMedical Center Announce NewNeuro Intensive Care Unit Expanding on a 40-year partnership between Our Lady of the Lake and The NeuroMedical Center, the two healthcare organizations today announced a new 20-bed Neuro Intensive Care Unit located on the ninth floor of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. “Nowhere in Louisiana are there more cutting- edge devices and procedures to help physicians treat neurological emergencies better and faster than at Our Lady of the Lake,” said Steven Gremi- llion, MD, chief medical officer at Our Lady of the Lake. “Through our unique partnership with The NeuroMedical Center, we are doing things in Baton Rouge not seen in the entire southeast- ern United States.” The new dedicated Neuro Intensive Care Unit brings Baton Rouge to the leading-edge of stroke care in Louisiana, and expands the footprint as a destination center for comprehensive stroke and neurological care in Baton Rouge, the State of Louisiana and Southern Mississippi. “We are now one step closer to our ultimate goal of transforming Baton Rouge into a destina- tion center of care for neuroscience excellence,” said Gerald J. Calegan, MD, chief neurologist at The NeuroMedical Center. “This partnership is a win for both organizations and, most importantly, for patients who can receive the highest level of care for stroke and other neurological emergen- cies close to home.” The new intensive care unit will combine all the necessary personnel, technology, and resources to help shave off critical minutes, even hours, in the triage, diagnosis and treatment of stroke and emergent neurological complications. “There is no more time-sensitive treatment in all of medicine than that required when responding to neurological emergencies such as stroke,” said Gregory L.
