The program is led by volunteer beauty experts, who teach makeup application techniques and offer skin and nail care guidance. They also dem- onstrate how to manage hair loss using wigs, tur- bans, scarves, and accessories. “Look Good Feel Better is as much about improving and maintaining self-esteem and con- fidence as it is about appearance,” said Christy Lofton, RN, patient navigator at Pennington Can- cer Center. “Patients appreciate the instruction from beauty professionals while in a relaxed, non- medical setting with others who are in the same that we support through the loss of a child,” said Jessica Morris, RN, labor and delivery nurse man- ager for Woman’s Hospital. “So many families who lose a baby suffer in silence, but we want to make sure they know that they are not alone. This event is another way for Woman’s Hospital to wrap its arms around our families who have experienced baby loss and to remember their babies along- side them.” Statistics show that as many as one in four preg- nancies ends in loss, and together Woman’s Hos- pital and Anna’s Grace Foundation offer many resources for families experiencing baby loss. Woman’s Hospital hosts a pregnancy and infant loss support group that meets from 7-9 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at Wom- an's Center for Wellness. Sessions are free, and adult family members and friends are welcome. Call (225) 924-8456 to learn more.
