These safety accolades should make their choice a little easier.” Healthgrades evaluated 10 patient experience measures, ranging from cleanliness and noise levels in patient rooms to pain management and responsiveness to patients’ needs. The measures also include whether a patient would recommend the hospital to friends or family. Ochsner Baton Rouge Receives ‘A’ for Patient Safety Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge (OMCBR) was awarded an “A” from The Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2019 Hospital Safety Grade. The designation recognizes Ochsner Baton Rouge’s efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety stan- dards in the United States. The Leapfrog Group is a national organization committed to improv- ing health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care. Ratings are updated twice annually, once in the spring and again in the fall. OMCBR has received an ‘A’ rating at each designation period dating back to Fall of 2015. “Eight (A-ratings) in a row is special because it means patients are receiving the care they deserve,” said OMCBR CEO Eric McMillen. OMCBR has an impressive track record of con- sistent and measurable quality, landing presti- gious recognition last year on the 2018 IBM Wat- son Health’s 100 Top Hospitals list. The facility is the only hospital in Louisiana among Becker’s 2018 edition of 100 Great Community Hospitals. “To be recognized nationally as an ‘A’ hospital is an accomplishment the whole community should take pride in,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Hospitals that earn an ‘A’ grade are making it a priority to protect patients from preventable medical harm and error. We congratulate hospital leaders, board mem- bers, staff, volunteers and clinicians who work so hard to earn this ‘A.’” West Feliciana Hospital Donates CPRTraining Kit to Bains Elementary West Feliciana Hospital recently partnered with American Heart Association – Capital Area to pur- chase and present a CPR training kit and resources for the students at West Feliciana Schools, Bains Elementary’s fifth grade class. “We are grateful for the opportunity to train our fifth graders in CPR through the work of the American Heart Association and the gener- ous donation of the West Feliciana Parish Hos- pital. Working together, we can save lives,” said Hollis Milton, superintendent of the West Felici- ana Parish School Board. In 2014, the Louisiana Legislature passed the Burke Cobb Act, which requires all Louisiana West Feliciana Hospital recently partnered with American Heart Association – Capital Area to purchase and present a CPR training kit and resources for the students at West Feliciana Schools, Bains Elementary’ s fifth grade class.
