Louisiana Healthcare Connections Sponsors BR Free Clinic Louisiana Healthcare Connections recently sponsored the Baton Rouge Free Clinic to bring free dental, vision, and medical services to fam- ilies and individuals in need. With the theme of Love Heals, the event was held at the Baton WBRZ-Channel 2 Premiers ‘Healthcare Journal of Baton Rouge InnerView’ WBRZ-Channel 2 is premiering “Healthcare Journal of Baton Rouge InnerView.” US Health- care Journal’s Chief Editor, Smith Hartley, will serve as host for the new talk show. Louisiana Office of Behavioral HealthHolds Listening Tour Stop in Baton Rouge The Louisiana Department of Health’s Office of Behavioral Health recently held meetings in Baton Rouge to gather experiences, ideas, and concerns about the behavioral health system. The first meeting was aimed at providers, and the sec- ond was a community meeting, co-hosted by the Capital Area Human Services District. Both meet- ings were held at the Bienville Building in Down- town Baton Rouge. The meetings were a part of a larger series of meetings held around the state by the Office of Behavioral Health throughout Janu- ary and February. Each stop on the Conversations on Behavioral Health listening tour allowed individuals, com- munity representatives, and providers an oppor- tunity to share with state officials their ideas and concerns about their experiences with the behav- ioral health system. Starmount Insurance Co. Partners with AHA to Purchase CPRKits, AEDDefibrillator Starmount Insurance Company, the dental and vision subsidiary of Unum (NYSE:UNM), partnered with American Heart Association – Capital Area to purchase ECC and CPR training kits, an AED defi- brillator, and resources for the students at LaSalle Elementary. The $2,500 corporate donation is a part of Starmount’s growing partnership with the elementary school and the company’s expanding community relations program. In the summer of 2017, Starmount collaborated with Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) to adopt LaSalle as the school’s community partner, work- ing to support the students and faculty, provide resources, and promote an overall healthy learn- ing environment. Through this recent donation and AHA’s program, LaSalle students will be able to practice CPR’s life-saving techniques during their physical education classes. In 2014, the Louisiana Legislature passed the Burke Cobb Act, which requires all Louisiana Starmount Insurance Co. partnered with American Heart Association – Capital Area to purchase ECC and CPR training kits, an AED defibrillator, and resources for the students at LaSalle Elementary.
