The Humana Foundation will be announcing on June 29 a new initiative with Capital Area Human Services District that will improve physical health outcomes, and increase life expectancies for adults with serious mental illnesses.
The peer-led Total Health Program will focus on integrated primary and behavioral healthcare services, such as a support groups, instructor-led fitness classes, nutrition and health education, and smoking cessation.
As the philanthropic arm of Humana Inc., the Humana Foundation seeks to improve community health and well-being while addressing root causes and barriers that keep people from being their healthiest.
The announcement will be made at 2 p.m. at the Capital Area Human Services District, 4615 Government St. in Baton Rouge. Present for the announcement will be Sharon Weston Broome, Mayor-President of Baton Rouge; April Golenor, Humana Gulf States Medicare President; and Jan Kasofsky, PhD, Executive Director, Capital Area Human Services District.
