Throughout October, Ochsner Baton Rouge is adding expanded mammography appointments, helping women prioritize their breast health.
Ochsner will offer extended Saturday mammography hours on the following dates:
-Oct. 17:
8 a.m.-1 p.m. Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge
-Oct. 24:
8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove
-Oct. 31:
8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge
Ochsner recommends women begin scheduling annual mammograms at age 40. Women should also be familiar with how their breasts normally look and feel and report changes to their healthcare provider. Changes can include swelling, skin irritation or dimpling, breast or nipple pain, or thickening of the skin. Because many breast cancers do not cause noticeable symptoms, routine mammograms can play an important role in detecting cancer earlier.
