Woman’s Hospital announced that Ruth Johnson will join the hospital as vice president of public revenue integrity beginning May 1.

In the new role, Johnson will provide vision and leadership of systematic revenue cycle operations and healthcare policy.

“As the largest provider of newborn deliveries and neonatal care in Louisiana, Woman's continues to advance our vision of being the premier provider for women and infants in our state and region,” said Rene Ragas, president and CEO of Woman’s Hospital. “Ruth's expertise navigating the complexities of healthcare across our state will enhance Woman's ability to improve health outcomes by providing greater access to quality healthcare.”

Johnson has been a public servant for more than three decades and has worked in state agencies across Louisiana, South Carolina, and Texas. Most recently, she served as undersecretary for the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) after her promotion from Medicaid director.

As undersecretary, Johnson increased hospital supplemental payments by more than $900 million for critical services to more than 2 million Medicaid members. While at LDH, Johnson led the Medicaid program with a $15 billion budget, employing more than 700 employees statewide.
