Woman’s Welcomes Renada W. Deschamp as VP of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Woman’s Hospital welcomed Renada W. Deschamp, MPA, MCCT, as vice president of diversity, equity, and inclusion and chief diversity officer.

Deschamp has spent the majority of her career in healthcare fostering leadership and talent development and driving diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) initiatives. Most recently, she served as the diversity, equity, and inclusion integration program manager for Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady (FMOL) Health System. While at FMOL, Deschamp oversaw the creation of cross-functional workgroups to advance DE&I strategy across the health system to drive both internal and external results.

As chief diversity officer, Deschamp will lead DE&I initiatives internally by working with leadership to create a culture of belonging within the organization which encompasses enhancing equitable hiring practices, employee and provider training and education, and externally by ensuring all policies and practices foster inclusion, and patients receive culturally competent healthcare and better outcomes. She will work closely with Katrice Albert, MD, who has served as the hospital’s DE&I consultant since 2020, as she transitions into her role to continue the work to advance belonging across the organization.

“Diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare is a challenge hospitals across the country are facing, and having the right people and processes in place to ensure equitable care is an important step in moving the needle,” said Rene Ragas, president and CEO of Woman’s Hospital. “Renada has a proven track record in advancing inclusive practices that benefit employees and patients, and I believe she’ll have an immediate impact on our team.”

Outside of healthcare, Deschamp served as a talent development specialist at Community Coffee Company where she served as a leadership coach and implemented an individual development plan process.

Deschamp attended Southern University where she earned her undergraduate degree in political science and a Master of Public Administration. She is active in the community and serves on a number of different boards of directors committed to DE&I in Baton Rouge including the Greater Baton Rouge Society for Human Resource Management (Diversity Director), YWCA Greater Baton Rouge, and ATD Baton Rouge.
