Baton Rouge General Adds Bone Health Center at Bluebonnet Campus

Baton Rouge General (BRG) announced a new Bone Health Center, led by Angela Roy, PA-C. Certified by the National Osteoporosis Foundation as a fracture liaison specialist, Roy specializes in diagnosing and treating osteoporosis.

“There are many factors that can increase your risk of developing osteoporosis, including a family history, smoking, a diet low in calcium and vitamin D, and certain conditions like type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis or inflammatory bowel disease,” Roy said. “The best defense is taking steps to prevent osteoporosis, like proper nutrition and an active lifestyle. If you are concerned about your bone health or your risk for osteoporosis, talk to your doctor about getting a thorough evaluation.”

Roy received a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science and a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Our Lady of the Lake College. Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, her experience includes orthopedics, rheumatology, and bone health. Roy is also a member of the National Osteoporosis Foundation, the Rheumatology Alliance of Louisiana, and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

BRG’s Bone Health Center is located at 8595 Picardy Ave., Suite 300. A physician referral is required.
