Prepare to Breastfeed at North Oaks Prenatal Breastfeeding Class on August 19

Learning to breastfeed starts months before the baby arrives. Prenatal breastfeeding classes are available for expecting parents to learn about breastfeeding and support.

Nicole Kling, a North Oaks labor and delivery nurse and lactation consultant, will lead a free prenatal breastfeeding class from 6–8 p.m. on Aug. 19, at the E. Brent Dufreche Conference Center within North Oaks Diagnostic Center, located at 15837 Paul Vega, MD. Dr. in Hammond. The class will provide a basic understanding of breastfeeding, with topics of proper positioning, nutrition, pumping and storing breast milk. Seating is limited and registration is required. Register at www.northoaks.org/classes.

“Breastfeeding is one of the best things that you can do for your baby,” Kling affirms. “At first, it may be a little overwhelming, but with help and practice you can be very successful. Attending a prenatal breastfeeding class is a great first step to get ready!”

North Oaks hosts free prenatal classes monthly. Classes include topics that prepare parents for labor, delivery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery. CPR classes and car seat checks round out the offerings.

North Oaks prenatal classes follow COVID-19 safety measures applicable to healthcare settings and will apply at these classes as set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and State of Louisiana.
