Woman’s Hospital Welcomes Kelly Schwartzenburg Cannon, MD, and Bianca Glueck to Lead New Perinatal Mental Health Unit

Woman’s Hospital announced the hiring of Kelly Schwartzenburg Cannon, MD, as director of inpatient perinatal psychiatry and Bianca Glueck as clinical director. They will lead the new perinatal mental health unit at Woman’s Hospital which is scheduled to open September 2024.

Cannon is a board-certified psychiatrist with more than 12 years of experience in the inpatient clinical setting. She specializes in providing psychiatric care for maternity and postpartum patients. 

A graduate of LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport, Cannon is proficient in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric issues and substance abuse and leads treatment planning through medication management and therapeutic interventions. She spent her residency at LSUHSC/Ochsner New Orleans and most recently worked at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge as an attending inpatient psychiatrist. 

Glueck is a registered nurse with more than 12 years of experience in direct nursing care and administrative oversight in the healthcare industry. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capella University and an Associate of Science in Nursing from Baton Rouge Community College. Glueck previously served as assistant director of nursing and director of quality for Oceans Behavioral Health Hospital in Baton Rouge. She is a member of Postpartum Support International as well as the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and is certified in perinatal mental health.

The perinatal mental health unit at Woman’s Hospital will serve as Louisiana’s first inpatient mental health unit solely dedicated to serving the specialized needs of pregnant and postpartum women.
