Woman’s Hospital Receives Magnet Recognition from ANCC

Woman’s Hospital has again attained Magnet® recognition from The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the highest honor an organization can receive for professional nursing practice. First recognized by ANCC in 2006, Woman’s is one of only 608 healthcare organizations worldwide to earn Magnet® accreditation.

“I’m incredibly proud that Woman’s nursing program has distinguished itself by again achieving Magnet recognition,” says Cheri Johnson, chief nursing officer at Woman’s Hospital. “Earning this accreditation for the fourth time clearly demonstrates the foundation of excellence that drives everyone at Woman’s to provide exceptional care to our patients. It’s a tremendous honor and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire nursing team.”

The ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® distinguishes healthcare organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. The Magnet® Model provides a framework for nursing practice, research, and measurement of outcomes. Through this framework, ANCC evaluates applicants across several dimensions to gauge an organization’s nursing excellence. These include the quality of nursing leadership, coordination, and collaboration across specialties, and processes for measuring and improving the quality and delivery of care.
