Woman’s Hospital has added Laurel King, MD, as a gynecologic oncologist at the Breast & GYN Cancer Pavilion, where she will specialize in diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the female reproductive system. King joins Anthony Evans, MD, PhD, as the only full-time gynecologic oncologists in Baton Rouge.
“It has been exciting to watch our GYN oncology program grow and to be adding another full-time physician to care for women in our community,” said Cynthia Rabalais, executive director of the Breast & GYN Cancer Pavilion, a partnership with Mary Bird Perkins-Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center. “Along with Dr. Evans, this really is a world-class team right here in Baton Rouge.”
King, who has practiced gynecologic oncology for 20 years, is not a new face at Woman’s. She has served as a rotating physician for the past year with regular visits to the Pavilion each month.
“Dr. King has decades of experience in treating complex gynecologic cancer cases and she is a tremendous asset to our patients at the Pavilion,” said Evans, who serves as medical director of gynecologic oncology. “I look forward to having her here fulltime and building on the impactful relationships she has already developed with so many of our patients.”
King is board-certified in obstetrics & gynecology and gynecologic oncology, and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She earned an undergraduate degree at Emory University in Atlanta, followed by a medical degree and residency at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She completed gynecologic oncology fellowship training at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
