Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health Hosts Amazing Half Marathon

Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health will host its seventh annual Amazing Half Marathon on March 12. Races this year will feature the same options past participants have enjoyed — half marathon, 10K and 5K. The course for all races will start and finish in downtown Baton Rouge.

“The Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health Amazing Half Marathon is an annual event and an opportunity for participants of all ages and running levels to join in a fun and healthy event in Baton Rouge,” said Trey Dunbar, MD, president of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health. “The marathon offers something for everyone including a continuing education component for physicians.”

All of the AMAZING races are options for seasoned and beginner level runners of all ages. This year, all activities will take place on one day, beginning with the Amazing Half Marathon and 5K races kicking off at 7 a.m., and the Amazing Kids Mini Marathon – half mile and one-mile fun runs for kids, as well as a one-mile fun Run/Walk kicking off shortly after.

“There is a one-mile course for any individual who wants to participate, running or walking, but may not be able to complete a full 5K as a way to help you take those first steps to getting more active,” said Shaun Kemmerly, MD, chief medical officer of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. “Each year, it’s exciting to see the number of individuals and families who come out to participate in this great event and celebrate their health, together.”

The Amazing Half Race and Challenge are extensions of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health’s work to create a healthier Louisiana through teaching families’ healthy habits, highlighting activities families can do together to remain active and embracing a healthier lifestyle in Louisiana.
