Baton Rouge General’s Father-Daughter Dance is Feb. 9

Baton Rouge General’s (BRG) Father-Daughter Dance will be held Feb. 9 from 3-5 p.m. at the Raising Cane’s River Center. Activities will include science experiments, cookie decorating, sports contests, art-making, and – of course -- dancing.

Hosted by the Baton Rouge General Foundation, this year’s event is themed “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!,” borrowing from the popular Dr. Seuss book that encourages readers to create their own path and pursue their dreams.

“The dance presents a great opportunity for dads and daughters to enjoy each other’s company and create wonderful memories together while supporting the critical medical services that Baton Rouge General provides to our community,” said Erik Showalter, president of the Baton Rouge General Foundation.

The tradition began more than 25 years ago with just 100 guests and outgrew several smaller venues before moving to the River Center where it hosted more than 1,000 attendees last year. This year’s dance is presented by Williamson Eye Center and supported by Audi of Baton Rouge.

After the dance, several local restaurants are hosting “give back night” so dads and daughters can grab dinner after working up an appetite on the dance floor. Proceeds support Baton Rouge General’s pediatric medical services.
