Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center announced that Jared LeDoux has joined Mary Bird Perkins as its new vice president of human resources.

LeDoux has over 15 years of human resources experience, with his expertise spanning a wide range of areas within the field. He earned a bachelor’s degree from McNeese State University, along with a master’s degree and PhD from Louisiana State University.

Hana Safah, MD, performed an autologous bone marrow transplant on Jan. 22, marking a milestone for Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute’s newest heme-malignancy cell therapy program.

Autologous transplants are used to treat common blood cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. This type of transplant involves the patient receiving their own stem cells after chemotherapy.

On Jan. 10, Woman's Hospital hosted a press conference with U.S. Representative Julia Letlow to announce the launch of their Newborn Essential Support Toolkits. Woman’s is now the sixth recipient in Louisiana to distribute the kits which are supplied through a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Baby2Baby, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides families across the country with diapers, clothing, and other basic necessities.
