Our Lady of the Lake Ascension, part of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS), announced the implementation of the IntelliSep test in its emergency department. This diagnostic tool allows for the early detection and treatment of sepsis. This sepsis detection tool was researched and developed at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center announced the introduction of Hexapod radiation technology at its Gonzales and Houma locations. This radiation therapy is used at both Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Gonzales and Terrebonne General | Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.

Our Lady of the Lake Heart & Vascular Institute recently performed Louisiana’s first transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement procedure using the EVOQUE system from Edwards Lifesciences, expanding treatment options for patients with tricuspid regurgitation.

Tricuspid regurgitation has traditionally only been treated using medication for its symptoms, not for the disease itself. The EVOQUE system has the potential to eliminate a patient’s tricuspid regurgitation all together.

The 2024 National Dialogues on Behavioral Health conference will convene in New Orleans to focus on collaboration, integration, and the engagement of community resources from across systems and providers, to improve treatment outcomes and the quality of care for individuals with complex needs. National experts will discuss the roles of mental health, substance use, and behavioral health specialists within integrated and collaborative care approaches.

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s Live Well community health event is set to return to Covington this month. Live Well Northshore, a free cancer screening opportunity, will be held on Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. ­– 1 p.m. at Covington Trailhead, 419 N. New Hampshire Street. This event provides residents with an opportunity to take advantage of four different types of cancer screenings, including breast, prostate, colorectal, and skin cancer. Participants can also access blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose checks.
