More than 150 supporters of Pennington Biomedical and childhood health came together recently to learn more about the Center’s newest initiative, Greaux Healthy. Greaux Healthy is committed to preventing and treating childhood obesity and backed by more than 30 years of Pennington Biomedical research. With financial support from Louisiana state leaders, Greaux Healthy reflects a shared dedication to improving the health and lives of children across the state, both now and for generations to come.
Louisiana Healthcare Connections is partnering with Habitat for Humanity and Catholic Charities of Acadiana in a series of volunteer initiatives aimed at strengthening communities and addressing social determinants of health.
The American Heart Association, Capital Area, recently collaborated with Baton Rouge General Hospital to fill an urgent CPR training need. Through this new local sponsorship, they are providing seven CPR in Schools Training Kits™, which will serve more than 8,000 Greater Baton Rouge students each year.
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) announced the release of the Whole Health Louisiana (WHL) State Plan, Louisiana’s first statewide plan to systematically address the widespread issue of childhood adversity and trauma through the integration of trauma-informed and healing-centered approaches in our state’s systems of care and support for children and families. Addressing this issue benefits the well-being and fulfillment of our state’s children, families, and communities.
Baton Rouge General has earned a three-year accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC), a quality program administered by the American College of Surgeons, for providing the highest level of care in treating rectal cancer.
