LSO Foundation Speaks Out for Bill and Sponsors Hat Run

On April 19, the LSO Foundation spoke in support of a bill going before the Louisiana House of Representative’s Education Committee that would allow a student to possess and apply sunscreen at Louisiana public schools without a note from a parent and a doctor.

Present law provides for requirements and restrictions applying to the administration of medication to public school students and defines “medication” to mean all prescription and nonprescription drugs, including sunscreen.

The LSO Foundation is also sponsoring their fifth annual Hat Run for Skin Cancer Awareness, a 5K and 1 mile run to be held April 29 in Baton Rouge. Participants can receive a free on-site skin cancer screening and there will be food, drinks, music and a children’s activity tent.
