LPCA Releases Statewide Economic Impact Report

The Louisiana Primary Care Association (LPCA) held a press conference on May 17 with healthcare leaders from across the state including Louisiana Department of Health Secretary Rebekah Gee, MD to announce the results of their economic impact report.

The event was held on the steps of the Louisiana State Capitol Building.
Louisiana’s Community Health Centers conduct over 1 million patient visits annually, serving over 340,000 individuals. They provide high quality dental, mental, and primary care services to communities across the state.

•    Community Health Centers receive no state general fund support for their work, and see all patients regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
•    Community Health Centers were instrumental in the success of Louisiana’s Medicaid Expansion rollout, which enabled the state to save about $50 million dollars in the first year of expansion.
•    Louisiana’s Community Health Centers serve 13.4% of the total Medicaid population and account for only .8% of the state’s total Medicaid expenditures.

The press conference was held in conjunction with LPCA’s Annual Legislative Day. For more information on the LPCA and its members, visit www.LPCA.net.
