CIS Offers Free Wine & Wellness Screening Feb. 26

Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is hosting a Wine and Wellness event featuring free cardiovascular screenings on Feb. 26 from 5-7 p.m. at 8401 Picardy Ave. in Baton Rouge.

Guests will receive a complimentary electrocardiogram (EKG) and ankle brachial index (ABI) screenings. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks, and more. An ABI simple, painless exam is used to test the blood flow in the legs to determine risk of vascular disease. Results will be reviewed on site by Dr. Niksad Abraham. The event will also include hors d’oeuvres and red wine tastings.

Risk factors of vascular disease include family history, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.

Registration is required. Space is limited. Visit cisbr20.eventbrite.com or call (985) 873-5058 to reserve a spot.
