BRG Home Health Services in Top Five Percent of Agencies

Baton Rouge General Home Health was recently recognized as the only agency in the capital area to earn a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in both Quality of Patient Care and Patient Satisfaction. The ranking puts the agency among the top five percent of home health centers nationwide.

“It’s a testament to our team’s focus on patient experience and quality that we’ve been able to achieve five stars so quickly. I’m very proud of our team,” said Edgardo Tenreiro, BRG President and CEO. “We have a great partner in LHC Group, who puts the same emphasis on individual patient needs that we do.”

The quarterly CMS Five-Star Quality Rating System is one of the industry’s most comprehensive and respected performance indicators for home health providers, and is viewed as a key differentiator in post-acute care. Instituted by CMS as part of its Home Health Compare website to offer a “tool for consumers to use when choosing a home health care provider,” the system ranks providers in Quality of Patient Care and Patient Satisfaction categories.

Baton Rouge General Home Health opened last February, and is part of LHC Group, a national provider of post-acute care services with 12,000 employees operating more than 400 locations in 26 states, with an office on BRG’s Mid City campus.

“Our team at Baton Rouge General Home Health has achieved an outstanding recognition of quality and commitment to serving our patients, and the entire LHC Group organization extends our congratulations, said Keith Myers, LHC Group chairman and CEO. “The CMS star ratings are among the healthcare industry’s best indicators of who is providing best-in-class service. We couldn’t be more proud to have a team like this helping us carry out our mission.”

Patients with certain conditions are referred to home health as a part of recovery. Physicians then work closely with the home care team to deliver quality, compassionate care designed to help patients transition seamlessly into daily life. In addition to offering health care services, home health professionals also educate patients on their conditions, medication management and nutrition.
