After hosting more than a decade of cancer screenings in a fun, festive environment, Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center’s Fest for Life will return April 13 in a new location—downtown Baton Rouge. With the goal of continuing to save lives through early detection while providing fun for the whole family, this year’s event will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on 4th St.

Baton Rouge General (BRG) is bringing a music therapy program to its tiniest patients through an expansion of its Arts in Medicine program. Beginning this month, babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) will be exposed to calming, rhythmic sounds that are designed to help babies grown and heal.

Baton Rouge General will host a March 20 Lunch and Learn event on atrial fibrillation (AFib), an irregular and often rapid heart rate affecting nearly three million Americans.

Dr. Lance LaMotte, an interventional cardiologist with Baton Rouge Cardiology Center, will help attendees understand AFib and its related risk factors like stroke and heart failure. He will also explain treatment options, including a new heart implant surgery that can reduce stroke risk for a lifetime and eliminate the need to take blood thinners.
